for the sake of sanity

We’re all hurting after the last game. In order to do my part to rid the insatiable questions and second-guessing, I’ve been planning a few tangential episodes to tide us over between now and Saturday and whatever happens afterwards. First up is an essay I wrote for ABC News. Click to read or paste the address:

Hey that’s a great article, I remember going to a ‘94 WC game in Orlando as well, Belgium-Morocco if I remember right. The article mentions England as being in the ‘94 Cup, however didn’t they miss out that year? I remember it being that they needed to beat San Marino 10-0 to advance to the Cup, but only managed to win 10-1.

Love it! Thanks Adam.
re: the last comment.
the article just says Beckham was in the program, not that England was in the cup. I can’t remember if they were or weren’t, but i wouldn’t doubt Becks was in there somewhere, even if just an Ad.

It’s not likely that Beckham was in the program, since he wasn’t even a first team player for ManUre by then. Also, Ronaldo didn’t play a minute in that tournament. Romario would have been the man in the program.
