“Come with us back to those inglorious days when heroes weren’t zeros. Before fair was square. When the cavalry came straight away and all-American men were like Hemingway to the days of the wondrous B movie.”
Remember when you were a little kid? Remember when a soccer game more than anything else was compared to swarming bees, every player on the field chasing the ball without thoughts to positions, much less tactics. Ah, the innocence of youth. It’s a beautiful thing. But then you grow up and the world changes. Well, not so much he world, but your view of it. The ignorance is gone. Let the bidding begin.
What am I talking about?
It’s this Fugees story. It won’t go away.
Actually, in a way, it is gone. It left when the bidding began and won’t be back until somebody’s brother’s cousin who knows this guy at Universal rewrites the story into the next “B” movie.
“this aint really your life; aint really your life; aint really, aint nothing but a movie”
But that’s not going to stop a few bigwigs working in acquisitions to get all pissy about how their company was outbid on the project.
Call it a slow news day. Call it our obsession with money. Call it a “B” Movie. What else could you take from a story with the headline, “Heartwarming Soccer Story Kicks Off Hollywood Fight” ? Follow along with the bobble-heads and their Blackberries as the Wall Street Journal’s Kate Kelly breaks down the battle.

Outstanding GSH reference. Particularly in light of his dad’s background.
His father, Giles “Gil” Heron (nicknamed “The Black Arrow”) was a Jamaican soccer player who played for Glasgow’s Celtic Football Club in the 1950s. In fact, when he came to Scotland from the United States to join Celtic in 1951 he became the team’s first black player.
